Carol-Anne Partridge - Amicus Foster Care

Carol-Anne Partridge

I’m Carol-Anne, the Practice Manager at Amicus.  My route into social work began later in life; embarking on career change with a social work degree, inspired by the lived experience of having and caring for a child with complex needs and all that goes with it. Prior to this I was in the Military for 8 years, then worked in the aviation sector.  I qualified as a Social Worker in 2014 from the University of Bath, and my first role was in Support and Safeguarding for a local authority.  During my 7 years there I worked in a variety of roles including being the Assistant Team Manager of the Kinship and Fostering Team and Assistant Team Manager of the Children and Young People’s Disability Team.  Fostering has had a special place for me, as this where my interest in trauma informed and responsive practice began when I was the lead of the authority’s Council Fostering Excellence programme for the delivery of DDP across children’s service and its foster carers. I hold DDP Level 1 and 2, and I am also a Five to Thrive Champion – a model developed by Kate Cairns of KCA Associates.

During my time in fostering, I had heard positive reviews of Amicus – its ethos using a therapeutic approach to support young people and also their foster carers being the most notable. Whilst it is a small agency, it has an inclusive and family feel with children and young people at the centre of all that we do and this is evident with the excellent youth services we provide.

I am proud to be working for a progressive foster care agency, which at the heart is ensuring every child and young person experiences their childhood living in a family environment and made to feel “they are part of the family”.
