Amicus FC would like to extend a very warm welcome to the newest member of their team, Amanda Wyllie.
Amanda joins Amicus FC as a Social Worker. She comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience, having worked in Sterling Council for 11 years in the Children and Family Team and then taking a promotion to the Fostering Team. Asked why she went into a career in social care, Amanda said “I grew up in Glasgow which has a lot of poverty and depravation. I wanted to fight some of the injustices I saw and play a part in closing the gap. I also like the practical aspect of social work helping people grow and reach their potential”.
Asked why she came to Amicus Foster Care Amanda said, “I love what Amicus stands for; they are a small agency that makes a big difference. They live and breath their values and that is very important to me to work with an organisation like that. Before working in social care, I also worked for numerous charities as a volunteer so what I am doing now is an extension of that”. Asked what aspirations she has for the role Amanda said, “I am really keen to support the team to expand into the Wiltshire area and develop the carers in the South West”.
Amanda comes from Scotland with her husband Chris and their two boys Owen (8 years) and Callum (5 years).
When she is not working, Amanda loves spending the weekends doing family activities and cooking her favourite middle eastern spicy food.
