Why choose Amicus

Amicus Foster Care was setup in 2009 by a small, diverse team and have been Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ in all of our inspections. We support families to care for Children and Young People who are looked after by Local Authorities. Our ethos is to remain small, friendly and responsive while focusing on a personalised, ‘family-feeling’ approach to fostering. We believe success is measured by the outcomes for our children and young people and the support and celebration of our amazing foster families.

If you are passionate about making a difference for children, and have the energy and space in your life, we would like to talk to you. When joining the Amicus Foster Care team, your experience, skills and approach to life is more important to us than your age, marital status or sexuality.

What makes us

Choosing the right fostering agency to start or continue your journey is important.  Here at Amicus we pride ourselves on the therapeutic environment which we have created not only for the children in our care, but our foster carers and their families, birth families and staff.

Therapeutic Support

We provide regular therapeutic support sessions as standard to support you in your fostering journey.   Our in-house therapist can also respond and support through difficult periods to get things back on track.

Youth Services

Our Youth services is extremely active. We recognise that for young people to recover from trauma they also need to feel a sense of community.  Our youth service workers also do one to one work with young people and in small groups.  They are trained in Makaton, and the delivery of the Just Right Programme and ASDAN courses.

Benefits and Rewards

We recognise what an important part our foster carers play in children and young people’s lives. At Amicus you will receive competitive fostering allowances, with 3 weeks PAID short-breaks per year, free training, local support groups, and 24/365 support from our social work team.
